Comfortable Living Without Barriers
It is thus not only a source of inspiration and ideas for elderly and disabled and their families, but will also be of interest to all those interested in innovative and forward-looking ways of living, whether they are multigenerational families, home wners or experts from the building industry.
CENTRE OF LIFE – The home grows enormously in importance with advancing age. As mobility declines, it develops gradually into the focal point of the individual’s life. "Of the current roughly 16.9 million citizens in this age group in Germany, only roughly 660,000 live in care or retirement homes," explains Susanne Tyll of the North Rhine-Westphalian Working Group on Independent Living Advice. "An important prerequisite for general contentment and hence for a lower sickness rate is satisfaction with living conditions in one’s own home."
INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY – At REHACARE Congress "Wohn(t)raum" (dream living space) is highlighting ways of achieving greater home contentment.
A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE – Leading German research establishments give insights into the future of the home. Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is the catchphrase here. This term covers concepts, technical products and services that take the effort out of everyday tasks for elderly and single persons or perform these tasks on their behalf. These are joined by exhibitors from academia, politics and the housing industry who are giving interested visitors advice and practical assistance on the subject of home design.
