Occupation: Singer
Handicap: Blindness caused by excessive oxygen in the incubator

REHACARE.de talked to the musician Andrea Eberl about happiness, her desires and her faithful companion.

REHACARE.de: What makes you get up in the morning?
Andrea Eberl: I get up in the morning to enjoy life, make music, go for a walk with my guide dog Smokey and to touch base with friends.

REHACARE.de: What is your favorite place and why?
Andrea Eberl: My favorite place is the Greek Island Samothraki, where I can enjoy the ocean, the air, the woods, the taverns, the people and the silence, and because the Greek summer pace is similar to my own.

REHACARE.de: Who or what impresses you?
Andrea Eberl: There are many people who impress me. It can be the helpful salesperson at the super market, just like somebody who I only met for ten seconds, but who said or did the right thing. However, mostly it’s people who draw on their own creativity and who artistically - just like me - struggle along their way (without being assigned to a major label or publisher). Here are a few examples: The musician Götz Widmann from Bonn, Rüdiger Bierhorst from Berlin, Mickey Monroe from Munich (München), Ina Boo & Band, Michael Haaga, Claudia Nentwich, Wortfront- Sandra Kreisler & Roger Stein, the author Georg Biron from Vienna and bestselling author Sabine Kügler, who grew up in the jungle of West Papua New Guinea and lives in two different cultures. She was lucky and found publishers.

REHACARE.de: What is your most valuable possession?
Andrea Eberl: My guide dog Smokey, if you can actually classify her as a“possession“.

REHACARE.de: What are you fed up with?
Andrea Eberl: With the pity of people who think that my disability plays the most important role in my life and with inconsiderate people on the street, who won’t move out of the way, and just go with the flow of their „It’s-all-about-Me“ corporate attitude.

REHACARE.de: What makes you relax the most?
Andrea Eberl: Swimming in the ocean and listening to a good audio book.

REHACARE.de: What makes you happy?
Andrea Eberl: My guide dog, my many enriching friends, and the fortune to be able to now create my life to my liking within the scope of my own possibilities, thanks to my own songs.

REHACARE.de: Is there something you should throw away, but won’t?
Andrea Eberl: No.

REHACARE.de: Name three things that make for a fulfilled life!
Andrea Eberl: Having genuine, honest, loving people around me, to be able to travel and to be able to develop artistically.

REHACARE.de: When was the last time you felt blown away by something?
Andrea Eberl: Two days ago while I was listening to the audio book “Huntress and Hunted“ by Sabine Kügler.

REHACARE.de: What questions would you like to know the answer to?
Andrea Eberl: Whether I will be successful with my first record and whether I will ever have enough money to travel the world.

REHACARE.de: When was the last time you felt like hiding from something?
Andrea Eberl: Two weeks ago when I had a hangover.

REHACARE.de: What makes a person rich?
Andrea Eberl: Sincerity, honesty, social awareness, being there for other people and to find a calling for yourself.

REHACARE.de: What is your philosophy of life?
Andrea Eberl: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

REHACARE.de: Who else should we be asking these questions of?
Andrea Eberl: Bestselling author Sabine Kügler and the duo Wortfront – Kreisler & Stein
