The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is organising a weekend dedicated to horse riding for deaf children at the International School of Riding, Warwick from Friday 16 till Saturday 17 February.
Deaf children aged 8-13 years who are all passionate about horses will spend a fun filled weekend learning new skills and receiving training from experienced horse riding instructors. Children who sign up for the weekend will spend the days learning to ride, getting to know the horses, playing games on horseback and will even have the chance to take part in the NDCS's gymkhana!
Sally McNamara, NDCS Events Organiser explains:
"Three babies are born deaf every day and 90 per cent of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little experience of deafness. NDCS events range from information weekends for families whose child's deafness has just been identified to fun horse rising weekends like this one.
"At this event deaf children will learn new horse riding skills with full communication support, which is something they may not have access to in their home town. Participants will also have the chance to socialise with other deaf children who share the same interests and make new friends.”
The NDCS is the only UK charity solely dedicated to the support of deaf children and young people, their families, and professionals working with them.
