Handicap: Wheelchair-bound due to spastic paralysis

REHACARE.de talked to a young wheelchair bound woman from Germany, named Elisabeth, about happiness, her desires and chocolate.

REHACARE.de: What makes you get up in the morning?
Elisabeth M.: To make the best of this day and have a reason to go back to bed at night.

REHACARE.de: What is your favorite place and why?
Elisabeth M.: Apart from my beloved apartment it has to be the “Niki-de Saint-Phalle-fountain“ in Paris. I just love the colourful figures. And right around the corner from there you can get awesome crepes.

REHACARE.de: Who or what impresses you?
Elisabeth M.: Reliable, aspiring people with ambitious goals, who make their dreams come true and are still really likable and well grounded.

REHACARE.de: What is your most valuable possession?
Elisabeth M.: Everything that I possess is valuable to me, but I am especially proud of my almost complete collection of “Bibi-Blocksberg“-audio-plays. If I extend this question to intangible commodities, it definitely is the freedom to live with personal assistance and in my own apartment.

REHACARE.de: What are you fed up with?
Elisabeth M.: With annoying visit with government agencies, with educational professionals, who want to educate me, and I am also fed up with constantly writing unsuccessful job applications!

REHACARE.de: What makes you relax the most?
Elisabeth M.: Version 1: Sitting in my favorite blue armchair with a good book and some chocolate. Version 2: Turning on the TV and turning stress off while watching “Forbidden Love“(“Verbotene Liebe“) and ”Marienhof“. Marvelous!

REHACARE.de: What makes you happy?
Elisabeth M.: A feeling of success, chocolate, winning miscellaneous board games.

REHACARE.de: Is there something you should throw away, but won’t?
Elisabeth M.: My comfort cushions, which I have had since my early childhood. They are starting to disintegrate. Their padding is bulging out, but throwing them away is out of the question!

REHACARE.de: Name three things that make for a fulfilled life!
Elisabeth M.: A beautiful home and my family who supports me. A happy relationship and a job that I like. At least that’s what I need for my happy life.

REHACARE.de: What questions would you like to know the answer to?
Elisabeth M.: What was there before there was anything? What will the lottery numbers be next Wednesday?

REHACARE.de: When was the last time you felt like hiding from something?
Elisabeth M.: As someone who notoriously puts their foot in their mouth, this kind of feeling is somewhat of a permanent condition for me.

REHACARE.de: What makes a person rich?
Elisabeth M.: Many good friends, a lot of knowledge and experience, lots of time and money.

REHACARE.de: What is your philosophy of life?
Elisabeth M.: Do not trust anybody who has one.

REHACARE.de: Who else should we be asking these questions of?
Elisabeth M.: Absolutely ask Günther Jauch and Armin Maiwald.
