REHACARE.de talked to the Pantomime JOMI about happiness, his desires and overwhelming compliments.
REHACARE.de: What makes you get up in the morning?
JOMI: My average working day is just like everybody’s else: Many deadlines and work – sometimes interesting, sometimes very stressful, sometimes routine.
REHACARE.de: What is your favorite place and why?
JOMI: As a Pantomime I get to travel a lot and I live out of a suitcase so to speak, but wherever my friends and my audiences are, I feel comfortable and safe.
REHACARE.de: Who or what impresses you?
JOMI: When I was a younger man, Marcel Marceau impressed me very much. Thanks to him, I have found my calling. Today I think it is very impressive how happy and positive about life people in Namibia, Chile, Mexico and other countries are, despite them living under the most primitive conditions and faring far worse than we do.
REHACARE.de: What is your most valuable possession and why?
JOMI: The Art of Silence and my daughter Johanna.
REHACARE.de: What makes you happy?
JOMI: My family and my friends, who understand me.
REHACARE.de: Is there something you should throw away, but won’t?
JOMI: During my last move, I handled two boxes with small gifts and memorabilia many times. Then I decided to buy two display cabinets, and I am very happy now that I can always look at those glamorous mementos, which were given to me from the heart, with so much joy.
REHACARE.de: Name 3 things that make for a fulfilled life!
JOMI: Love, artistic success and well being.
REHACARE.de: When was the last time you felt blown away by something?
JOMI: I was on tour in Moscow in December 2009. The theater was sold out and the people were very excited about my art. After the performance, I was paid my most beautiful compliment. A man approached me, squeezed my hand really tight and said: “We Russians were worried that Pantomime would die after the death of Marcel Marceau, but through you, JOMI, it lives on. For this we thank you.“
REHACARE.de: What is your philosophy of life?
JOMI: Pantomime
