Radio for the Deaf: Space Station at REHACARE 2009

Space. An infinite area. We write the year 2009. At this year’s REHACARE.de there will be a “space station”. Unbelievable? Just as unbelievable as radio for the Deaf. This is what the company Bertelsmann AG will present at their booth.

Knut Weltlich from Bertelsmann and Radio RTL Berlin had the idea for the project „Deaf Radio Space Station” seven months ago. “This is the first time that Radio for the Deaf in Germany exists”, Weltlich explains. “Since it is something quite unusual people cannot imagine our booth will look like a space station where our sign language interpreters will work.”

From this space station latest news from the fair will be translated by the sign language interpreters and put on the Internet as Video-Podcast – like short films.

Six journalists from RTL will roam through the halls and report. Moreover, fair visitors can also take part. Every day from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. they can write texts at the booth, try out being a radio announcer or just look at how radio works.

Bertelsmann’s booth is in hall 03, booth G86.
