Name: Deniz Karci
Age: 37
City: Instanbul, Turkey
Occupation: Interpreter and translator
Handicap: Mostly are my optimism and my trust in others my biggest weaknesses.

In the Dreams Academy he helps young people with disabilities to find their artistic path as a musician, painter or actor. But Deniz Karci still wants to do much more good things for people - such as a firefighter. On REHACARE.de he tells us about the magic flair of Istanbul and his daughter Begüm.

REHACARE.de: When did you last laugh heartily and what about?
Deniz Karci: A few days ago when my cat ran towards me, slipped on to the parquet floor and missed me.

REHACARE.de: What is your favourite place? And why?
Deniz Karci: I am happy in Istanbul and there in the Taksim district. Not only because there is my office, but also because the people in Taksim always emanate a positive energy.

REHACARE.de: The last meal in my life would be…
Deniz Karci: I just love to live and eat simply. My last meal should already be either German or Turkish, just like a sausage or a doner kebab, but necessarily with a small glass of beer.

REHACARE.de: Which person has influenced you most?
Deniz Karci: It is definitely Ercan Tutal, who with the Alternative Camp and Academy of Dreams opened the door for me to the world of people with disabilities and who has given me the opportunity to help others.

REHACARE.de: Is there something you should throw away, but won’t?
Deniz Karci: I am very attached to memories and throw away almost nothing. That would surely be a long list that would not fit in here.

REHACARE.de: If you were to win one million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Deniz Karci: One part I would definitely donate to the Dreams Academy. And I am sure I would go on a very long vacation with my family and friends.

REHACARE.de: Which moment of your life would you like to relive?
Deniz Karci: Certainly the birth of my daughter Begüm, who is now 11. Man, time goes so fast!
