Name: Evi Lange
Age: 62
City: Haigerloch/Germany
Occupation: retired, private initiative “Care in dignity”
Handicap: Multiple sclerosis and cancer, muscle weakness, halting motion, cognitive dysfunction and general physical weakness
The love-letters from her husband she has been saving for more than 40 years and she has not the heart to throw them away. With heart and mind she campaigns also for elderly and people in need of care. Evi Lange talks on REHACARE.de about her private initiative “Care in dignity” and about funny breakfasts with her husband.
REHACARE.de: When did you last laugh heartily and what about?
Evi Lange: Yesterday, today ... I already laugh at breakfast with my husband. Often about imprudent expressions. Mostly, I laugh about myself when I forget something. I often wake up laughing.
REHACARE.de: What is your favourite place? And why?
Evi Lange: Oberndorf (Germany) – my home town. I have many memories of this place. I married there and I know many people and spent a happy childhood and teenage years there.
REHACARE.de: The last meal in my life would be …
Evi Lange: My homemade ravioli with onions and potato salad. Chocolate-blancmange (without clumps and skin!) – but with cream!
REHACARE.de: Which person has influenced you most?
Evi Lange: My husband and my twin sister.
REHACARE.de: Is there something you should throw away, but won’t?
Evi Lange: Yes: the love-letters which I got 43 years ago from my husband, my wedding bag with gloves, many photos from our son’s childhood, high heels, souvenirs from many trips abroad and not to forget: my doll that I got for Christmas when I was twelve.
REHACARE.de: If you were to win one million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Evi Lange: I would build a house which is age-appropriate as a capital investment. My private initiative “Care in dignity” needs an office, a car and petrol. And I would yield something to some good people.
REHACARE.de: Which moment of your life would you like to relive?
Evi Lange: They are many moments which I would experience one more time: the first kiss, the childhood of our son, some beautiful days during my working time as care nurse and senior nurse, the stay in Kenya and the "happy time" with my two grandchildren. Buying hats with my sister.

REHACARE.de: I would like to be…
Vorname Name: I would like to be an actor because then I could play a star role in my own movie.
REHACARE.de: What are you fed up about?
Vorname Name: About the unfair policy and their empty promises, about parents, who do not raise their children, about people, who abuse the Christian creed, about people without social behaviour and charity, about marking of special-care homes which often do not conform to the facts, about the effects of missing values in our society.
REHACARE.de: How can you relax the best?
Vorname Name: In autumn under a tree with colourful leaves, on Lake Constance (in Germany, Switzerland and Austria), at home when I am listening to music or when I am lying in my winter garden and looking into the sky. I like to eat in a lovely atmosphere or sit in a nice cafe eating a piece of cake or ice-cream.
REHACARE.de: I enjoy listening to music by…
Vorname Name: All the performers who animate me to sing, like the Beatles, Milva, Drafi Deutscher, Roy Black and so on.
REHACARE.de: Which questions would you like answered the most?
Vorname Name: Why do we witness how other people in some countries die of hunger? How people live in 50 years?
REHACARE.de: What are you most afraid of?
Vorname Name: Of incalculable actions of some people.
REHACARE.de: What else would you like to accomplish in life?
Vorname Name: I would like to guide my remaining energy in the right direction. I would like to open eyes for a “care in dignity” in private homes, hospitals and special-care homes.
I want to knit many socks, celebrate many parties and the most important: till the end of my life I would like to keep my faith, give love and just stay the Evi I am now.
