A Very Special Acoustic Christmas
As with the previous five A Very Special Christmas releases, all proceeds will benefit Special Olympics. Country Music Television (CMT), a partner in the development of the album, will promote A Very Special Acoustic Christmas nationally throughout the network's 70.4 million U.S. television households, as well as CMT's other entities including CMT.com and CMT Radio Network.
A Very Special Acoustic Christmas features a vast spectrum of artists, including favorites such as Alison Krauss ("Only You Can Bring Me Cheer”) Reba McEntire ("Silent Night”), Alan Jackson ("Just Put A Ribbon In Your Hair”), Patty Loveless ("O' Come All Ye Faithful”), Wynonna (O' Holy Night”) and Rhonda Vincent ("Christmastime At Home”). This special collection includes wonderful contributions from celebrated newcomers Norah Jones ("Peace”), Pat Green ("Walking In A Winter Wonderland”) and Tift Merritt ("I'll Be Home For Christmas”) as well as legends Willie Nelson ("Please Come Home For Christmas”), Ralph Stanley ("Christmas Is Near”) and Earl Scruggs ("Jingle Bells”). A Very Special Acoustic Christmas also boasts master musicians Marty Stuart ("Even Santa Gets The Blues”), Sam Bush ("Let It Snow”), Dan Tyminski ("Frosty The Snowman”) and Ricky Skaggs ("Away In A Manger”).
The A Very Special Christmas album series was created by Interscope Records President Jimmy Iovine as a tribute to his father. Six albums later — as well as two other related albums: "Jazz to the World” (1995) and "World Christmas (1996) — these records have raised over $60 million for Special Olympics.
